Frink Analytics Lab: 5 use cases that will make your life easier

FRINK Analytics Lab processes collaboration data from various Cisco sources with different formats, normalizes and stores them in a fast and reliable database. The data is visualized in interactive graphs in near real time – providing you with crucial information to measure your business impact and plan your collaboration infrastructure. We drew up five examples of how FRINK Analytics Lab can make your life easier.

1. Quick overview of phone registration status

There were several complaints about phones not working yesterday. Your are a service owner, responsible for the UC service in your company and want to get an overview of the service status. In CUCM there is no easy and fast way to get this information. In FRINK Analytics Lab, however, you only have to open UCM Device > Device Search and get a list of the configured devices that will show you their current registration status, software version, and more. Sort it with one click to see which devices need your attention. Easy peasy!

2. Call disconnect monitoring

You are the head of the UC team. You configure and troubleshoot the system and need to keep an eye on the overall system status. However, you also need detailed information in case it doesn’t run smoothly. Therefore, it’s important for you to have an overview of the call disconnect reasons at your fingertips. Maybe there is a service outage, or you need to check if there is a media mismatch between devices. In CUCM, such a report is just not available. The FRINK Analytics Lab dashboard on the other hand shows reported disconnect reasons in near real time, and you can even filter for reason and time frame.

3. Fast and easy CDR troubleshooting

You are the person who actually configures and troubleshoots the system most of the time, and you definitely need detailed information about single calls (but you know keeping an eye on the system as a whole can’t hurt either). If you get a complaint about a single call, you want to get to CDRs easy and fast in order to check what’s going on. On CUCM, the CDR/CMR search is slow and painful, as you are well aware. With FRINK Analytics Lab, searching for CDRs is fast and easy, as you get the search results in one click. Use suggested filters or create your own to limit search results and find the needle in the haystack right away.

4. Show device status after software update

As an admin, you want an overview of the device status after a software upgrade of the company UC phones to check which phones are on the new version, and which ones are not - as you know that the user himself can postpone the update with CUCM > 12.x. You also know that on CUCM it is nearly impossible to get an overview of the current software version of your phones, and you would have to rely on pure luck to find out which devices are staying behind schedule on the update. In FRINK Analytics Lab, you get a detailed overview of the used software and can drill down all devices with a certain software version and check if any of them had a problem updating. If that doesn’t make you a hero for your end users, we don’t know what will!

5. Location to location mapping of calls

The CIO wants to get an update on how many calls were made between locations, to get an idea of how the communication between subsidiaries is working. In CUCM, this would simply be impossible to see. FRINK Analytics Lab has a dedicated dashboard with a map that shows the number of calls between locations, making it easy to get a bird’s view on call locations. In addition, you can drill down to a detailed list. Absolutely management-friendly!
